Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

As long as you are breathing, there is more right with you than there is wrong, no matter how ill or how hopeless you may feel.
– Full Catastrophe Living, Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindfulness, also known as heartfulness, is the awareness that arises when we pay attention, on purpose, in present moment, and without judgment.

MBSR – In this introductory course, you will learn the fundamentals of mindfulness, how to cultivate it and what steps to take to incorporate it into your life.

Scientific research supports a regular mindful meditation practice. MBSR helps individuals with stress and a broad range of medical conditions through useful mind body tools.

The majority of participants report improved ability to:

  • Cope with stress, pain and anxiety
  • Concentrate, focus and problem solve
  • Become more compassionate
  • Learn to take care of themselves with greater resilience and balance
  • Relax
  • Be present and enjoy life to the fullest

Taught by Mindy Eisenberg, MHSA, ERYT-500, Qualified MBSR instructor

Mindy has taught yoga and meditation for over 12 years and is a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor. She has studied with Jon Kabat Zinn, Saki Santorelli, and other nationally recognized instructors at the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness. “Perhaps the most “spiritual” thing any of us can do is simply to look through our own eyes, see with eyes of wholeness, and act with integrity and kindness.”
― Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are

Thank you Mindy! You created a very peaceful environment over the last eight weeks. I appreciate all the information that you shared and I hope to continue to use the tools in my everyday life. Loren Parker

Curiosity brought me to this course. I have experienced other mindfulness practices and wanted to know what sets MBSR apart. I also was looking for tools to better know myself and my decision process. I continued to attend because each session offered more tools, activities and information about living mindfully, in the present moment in real life. Plus, I enjoyed doing the formal practices with the group. We had a great group. Adele Kieras

I thought it would be fun to learn more about meditation. I wanted to be able to help others learn about it too. I feel like I got more than I hoped for. I’ve learned about myself too. But it was not as “fun” as I expected. I kept coming because I was interested and committed. Thank you Mindy! I am really grateful to have this training especially at this point in my life. Dalia Rogers

I really enjoyed the course and it helped me. I think that an 8 week commitment will be difficult for many people. Cathy Chartier, M.D.

Mindfulness meditation and adaptive yoga have become important parts of my life. I want them to continue to be. Mindfulness 2 would be nice. Anonymous

It helped me learn to step back and in words of fellow classmate,” be more in 3rd person”, observe how I’m reacting as opposed to just being in the thick of stress. It helped me to find different tools that I’ve never used for dealing with stress.
– Geula Rapp, Student
