Yoga Moves MS presents this special Forum to empower those impacted by MS with information about a range of integrative and holistic mind-body strategies. This event is an opportunity to learn about healthy living and wholesome options that complement traditional medical care. Feedback from past year’s attendees is that they learned a LOT from our inspiring speakers. Sessions were packed with useful material. Many told us that they plan to watch the presentations again! You too can gain much from the Holistic Health and Wellness Forum for MS.

The purpose of this Virtual Exhibit Hall is to provide a place for exploration for Holistic Health and Wellness Forum for MS registrants before, during, and after the Live Event on May 8, 2024 from 4pm to 8:30pm EST. It contains useful information available to you. Yoga Moves MS Mission & Purpose

Yoga Moves MS (YMMS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and supportive community of students, yoga instructors and therapists, and volunteers. Our mission is to foster a resilient and adaptive community, uniting individuals with multiple sclerosis in a journey with inspiration, connection, and empowerment. Through the transformative power of yoga, holistic health, and wellness education, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our community.

The Yoga Moves philosophy cultivates empowerment, healing, and fun. We provide adaptive yoga resources for those with MS and neuromuscular conditions. We offer at-home practice through subsidized and donation-only virtual classes. In person classes in southeastern Michigan are in five locations. Dr. Martin Belkin
Medical Director, MIND MS Center

Presentation: Closing Remarks

Dr. Belkin is the Medical Director of the MS Center at the Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders, which is one of the largest private MS Centers in the country. In addition to his extensive experience as the primary and sub-investigator for clinical trials in Multiple Sclerosis, he is known as a national speaker on the topic of Multiple Sclerosis. He is also actively involved in educating medical students and residents in the field of Neurology as he serves as the residency program director for the Ascension Macomb-Oakland Neurology Residency. As of July 2022, he has developed and serves as the director of the MIND MS/Neuroimmunology fellowship program. Additionally, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.


Binaifer Bugli, PT, CST-D

Presentation topic: Cranial Sacral Therapy and vestibular therapy

Binaifer earned her degree in Physical Therapy in 1990 from Bombay University, in India. She is a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Michigan. She has worked in acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient multidisciplinary clinics at St John Providence (Ascension) Health system, in Southfield & Novi for 25 years. Currently she is working in collaboration with neuro otolaryngologists / skull base surgeons at Michigan Ear Institute (MEI), as clinical director of  “Physical Therapy & Beyond” a clinic specializing in Vestibular & Balance Rehabilitation, Dizziness & Falls prevention, CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and also integrating other highly skilled, customized services. She emphasizes using a holistic approach, focusing on quality outcomes to help you achieve your goals in decreasing pain & improving functional abilities. 

Binaifer has been a CranioSacral Therapy practitioner since 1996 and currently holds a Diplomate (advanced) level certification in CranioSacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute. She is a Clinical Instructor & mentors students enrolled in PT and PTA programs; conducts lectures / presentations for the community and other professionals in CST, Falls Prevention and Vestibular Rehabilitation. Presently, she is a certified instructor with the Upledger institute and teaches CST I & CST for Pediatrics I internationally. 

Binaifer works with a mixed population of clients, from newborns to geriatrics, presenting a variety of orthopedic and neurological complaints. In addition to CranioSacral Therapy her treatment approach incorporates various forms of Manual Therapy techniques. 

While integrating her CranioSacral work, with a variety of traditional and complementary techniques, she puts a strong emphasis on patient education, and the development of individually designed treatment programs.

Dr. Jeanie Cote
Neurologist, Memorial Healthcare Institute for Neuroscience 

Presentation topic: Weightloss and MS

Dr. Jeanie Cote is a lifelong resident of the State of Michigan. She completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University with a degree in Nutritional Science. She then attended Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit and completed her neurology residency at the University of Michigan, serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Cote completed a Fellowship at the University of Michigan in Multiple Sclerosis/Neuro Immunology. After spending several years caring for patients at the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic at the University of Michigan, she transitioned to Memorial Healthcare Institute for Neuroscience in Owosso, Michigan, in 2019.

Dr. Cote has a special interests in the planning, prenatal and postnatal care for women with Multiple Sclerosis and lifestyle and weight management related to neurologic disease. Dr. Cote also holds certification in medical acupuncture. Dr. Cote is board-certified in Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the Academy of Pain Research.  She is board certified in weight loss management by the ABOM.

Dr. Doty is originally from Woodhaven, Michigan. He obtained his medical degree at the Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina before returning to Michigan to complete his neurology residency at Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont). He is currently finishing his fellowship training in multiple sclerosis at the Michigan Institute for Neurological Disorders and will be joining that practice to continue his career as an MS specialist.

Mindy is the Founder and Director of Yoga Moves MS, a non profit 501(c)(3) with the mission of improving the quality of life for individuals with MS, Parkinson’s Disease, and neuromuscular conditions through the provision of adaptive yoga and holistic health and wellness education.  Mindy has provided in person and virtual yoga therapy to individuals with mobility challenges for over seventeen years and thrives on building a strong, mighty community for her students, families, and care partners. She is the author of Adaptive Yoga Moves Any Body, created for individuals with MS and neuromuscular conditions and Adaptive Yoga Cards, daily yoga moves for all ages and abilities. She has trained hundreds of students with her Adaptive Yoga Moves Any Body Teacher Training and is a Qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction teacher, Reiki Master, and Certified Buteyko Breathing Instructor. Her experience as a health care administrator at the University of Michigan Medical Center contributes to her ability to bring the Yoga Moves philosophy of healing to the health care arena. She created the cutting edge and widely acclaimed annual Virtual Holistic Health and Wellness Forum for MS, presents for corporate, academic, and yoga therapy organizations, and offers small group and private therapeutic yoga, breathing, and meditation sessions. She lives with her husband and pets, Felix and Oscar in Michigan, and loves to visit her daughter and son, Julia and Noah, in NYC.

Presentation topic: Optimize Your Health with The Wim Hof Method

Tim is a proud husband and father from Chelsea, Michigan.  He is married to his wonderful wife Samantha and together they have two daughters, Adeline and Raegan.  Tim works as a Peak-Performance Coach and has trained thousands of individuals in breathwork, cold water immersion, heat exposure and mindset.  He has worked with top tier athletic programs such as University of Houston Football, University of Michigan Soccer and University of Detroit Mercy Basketball.  Tim is a published research scientist, recently co-authoring a paper with Wayne State Universities Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience department.  He also works as a Licensed Professional Counselor, owning and operating a private counseling practice.  Tim has a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy where he served as a Graduate Assistant for the Basketball Program, and a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Recreation & Leadership Management from Northern Michigan University.  Tim loves working in the field of mental health, as well as athletics.  He loves to spend time outdoors swimming, hiking, kayaking, cross-country skiing and spending time with family.

Presentation topic: Research on Yoga Interventions for MS

Dr. Jonathan Rosenthal is a board-certified neurologist in New York City. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in neural science at NYU, his Doctor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine, his residency in neurology and position as Chief Resident at NYU Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and the Manhattan VA, and is currently completing a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Weill-Cornell School of Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His work on TBI was recognized by the American Academy of Neurology Young Investigator Award. He is an avid yoga student of Sri Dharma Mittra. He is passionate about understanding yoga interventions in medicine, and hosts the Neuroscience and Yoga Online Conference annually during Brain Awareness Week to help people everywhere understand and apply the current science of how yoga affects the brain.

Presentation topic: Event Kickoff & Acknowledgements

Anqunette “Q” Sarfoh serves as the Executive Director of the Michigan chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML). She is the founder of Qulture, a line of CBD and THC infused products, available online and at select retail outlets and BOTANIQ, a cannabis dispensary that was sold in 2020. Prior to her involvement in cannabis, Anqunette spent 20 years as a TV journalist and news anchor in Indiana, Las Vegas, Boston, and Detroit.  After 8 years as the morning anchor for Fox 2 Detroit, Anqunette retired due to the effects of Multiple Sclerosis and joined efforts to legalize cannabis in Michigan. Through changes in diet and using cannabis, Anqunette went from taking nine medications a day to taking none and became a caregiver to teach others how to lessen their dependency on pharmaceuticals.  Anqunette also studied nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and often speaks to community and support groups about the safe and appropriate use of cannabis and other plants to help people nourish and heal their bodies.

Presentation topic: Opening Remarks

Dr. James M. Voci received his undergraduate training at Haverford College in Philadelphia followed by Medical School at the University of Pennsylvania. There, his interest in Neurology was nurtured by a strong faculty which included Dr. Robert Lisak who later became Chairmen of Neurology at DMC in Detroit. His residency in Neurology was performed at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Upon completion of his training, he served on the faculty there as Assistant Professor Of Neurology, performing both research in molecular biology as well as the instruction of new residents. In 1996 he left for private practice and eventually arrived in the metro Detroit region in 1999 where he has remained since. Dr. Voci currently serves as the Director of Neurology at St. Francis Hosp in Evanston. He is actively involved in the care of Multiple Sclerosis patients both clinically and with clinical research studies. And, yes, he actively practices Yoga. He has been the Chair of Yoga Moves MS since 2014.
